2009/10 Serie A season futures are now available, with Inter Milan 2.050* favourites, suggesting no change from current hierarchy, with AC Milan (4.00*) and Juventus (4.00*) snapping at their heels, and the league in general decline. Last season for the first time in seven years a Serie A side failed to reach the last eight of the Champions League, reflecting the reality that Italy is no longer the first choice of the world's best players.
AC Milan Suffer Woeful Pre-Season
AC Milan's new manager, Leonardo, is having a tough time in his first managerial post, and the season hasn't even started. The Rossoneri are without a win in eight pre-season games, and suffering injury problems. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was the only big close season signing, and the Dutch striker is considered a cast-off from Real Madrid where he failed to make a big impact last season. Milan start their campaign on Saturday away to Siena, hoping to put some early points on the board.
Champions, Inter Milan, start the season with a totally new striker-force. Samuel Eto'o replaces Zlatan Ibrahimovic who moves to Barcelona, while Diego Milito has joined from Genoa, having finished second to Ibra in the Serie A scoring charts last term. On paper Inter retain the strongest squad, and are worthy favourites to maintain their stranglehold on the Scudetto, despite having Esteban Cambiasso out long-term with a knee injury. The Nerazzurri start their campaign with what looks like a comfortable home fixture against newly promoted Bari.
